The History:
First appearing on ordnance survey maps in 1968.
The site was home to "Fernite", a machine knife manufacturer, first established in 1832. They vacated the premises in 2021 to relocate to a larger, purpose-built factory.
Shortly after "360 Plastics" a plastic recycling company moved in. They lasted only 2 years before closing the company and clearing out the offices.
Now the warehouse is used as storage for various construction supplies, while google suggests 360 Plastics is still active at the location.
The Explore:
Trying not to look suspicious in a busy area, we found access and was surprised to find so much remaining. There was quite a contrast between rooms, with modern offices, kitchen and one clean toilet. While other areas looked like they hadn't been used since the last owners were there. There were other toilets, a staff room and the warehouse looking quite dated in comparison.
The skylights in the warehouse were the highlight for me, but It didn't take long to look around, so I got my photos and did them a favour by turning the lights off on my way out.
Thanks for taking a look!
