I really quite like Ironbridge, the place just has something about it. I wanted to cover a bit more of the place so headed back for a daytime visit.

Take a look at my previous report here.

A fair bit of effort has been taken to lock the place up a bit better now, presumably since it was featured in the local newspaper by some idiot. All the external doors are locked, and interconnecting areas inside have been isolated from each other. New perimeter fencing has been erected.

I had a few targets for the day, most of which were achieved - the control room was one, which I really wanted to see while all the screens were still on. With no traditional panels it won't be much to look at once it's powered down, but the screens look ace while they are showing all that technical stuff.

I also wanted to find a mosaic which had been donated by a local school many years ago, depicting the history of industry in the area. The mosaic has been on display in the conference room and will be given back to the school before demolition.

My third target was the cooling towers. I had a wander around the outside of these, but unfortunately I couldn't get a look inside. I still got the externals I wanted from there.

Continuing inside, the turbines look great in natural light...

One or two original panels remain. These have now all been replaced by computerised control systems...

Nice work finding the mosaic. Wikipedia seems to thing there's some nice 60s architecture in the admin block as well, including a metallic mural. No sign of it?
