ABC Theatre/Cinema Liverpool
After gaining access climbing several rooftops we were in. An explore I’ve wanted to do since my urbex days started, before that even.
One of the best preserved places I’ve been to. We first got the circle from behind the stage and were surprised of a light being on. Some flood lights from builders. Didnt mind that though as it let us see the stage in all it’s glory
Presumably there because of the building plans that may finally go ahead after the limestreet re work has been done.
Plans to refurbish it into a nightclub or a new music venue, a £1.6 million refurb if my memories correct.
The original curtain still stands which was fascinating, with the curtain machines, both electric and hand crank.
I believe the place was built 1933 and was 1 of 3 cinemas along lime street, and now sadly the only one that remains. The others were Scala and Futurist. Check them out on google.
Besides the curtain, popcorn stall and projector lenses, the place had been stripped so sadly there wasn’t much else to see. Sitting in the chairs in the circle I felt like I travelled back in time, enjoy the pics.
