ADEL EASTMOOR APPROVED SCHOOL

HISTORY
The Adel Reformatory was founded in 1857 by the Leeds Society for the Reformation of Juvenile Offenders, on a site deliberately chosen to be removed from the temptations of the city. A report of the school from 1887 records 150 boys engaged in occupations including joinery, tailoring, shoemaking, farm work, calligraphy, building trades, cooking and blacksmithing. In the 19th century, a child under 14 could be sent to a place like Eastmoor for begging, wandering, consorting with thieves and prostitution. In more modern times it became the Eastmoor approved school and housed more dangerous criminals. One of Jamie Bulger's killers, Jon Venables, apparently spent time there in the 1990s.

Yeah I think that was the best part of the explore, it was just so full from all the rain water and even had some frogs swimming in it.

yeah i read them my self when i was trying to find info on redbank i think lots of rumours went about but jon was at red bank my reports on here somewhere i think and the other lad went to one that is still open today so not had chance to do that one yet lol. Things like this interest me for some reason. I did one up morphet way near newcastle forgot name but there was rumours he had been there aswell but that wasnt true. Ive done 3 upto now 2 of them have new secure units built next to them like the one at leeds does iam sure there are many more aswell.
