Report - Ambergate ROC Post (Derbyshire Group) August 2010

Last visited a year or so ago so here's the current state-just the same as then really!
Opened 1976 then closed just 15 years later in 1991. Supposedly one of the last posts to be built. Burnt out & not so good but here goes...

Called here yesterday for a look, It's now completely empty of anything except a pile of rubble at base of ladder and some broken bits of timber. Looks to me like another fire as the smell was acrid. Lid is not secured in any way and is currently held down with a large rock. Have some pics but nothing worth posting unfortunately. If your local it's worth a look but not worth a special trip. The door to the cupboard containing pump handle still remains but is badly charred. Bunks have also gone and the burnt remains of a cupboard are still against the wall. The light switch on the wall remains along with a smashed box on the wall which may have been for the telephone system. p.s. avoid farmer if possible he does not want you there and there are electric fences around field perimeter along with the usual private land signs.
