Report - Amesbury ROC Post - Wiltshire - September 2016

i do enjoy finding and photographing these posts, the differences between each post amazes me, from the state of the place itself to each ones contents. This one in particular seems to be a meeting ground for snails, hundreds of the little buggers and a jar full of black beetles inside....not sure what that was all about.

Didn't go inside. Opened the hatch & it smelt of smoke. Looked fairly blackened too, so wondered if it's been vandalised.. Would like to venture down there at some point..

Are you referring to the report roc post or the one I linked in the comments. I hope neither have been vandalised as they were in fairly good condition.

The ROC Amesbury.. Was hoping to venture down, but as I could smell remnants of burning & it looked blackened, as did the snails, I stayed out..

visited the site in the last couple of weeks, someone has indeed set fire to the inside, everything is blackened but still very interesting!

Was staying in the Holiday Inn back at the start of April with work, had a bit of free time in the evening so swung by this post as it's literally next door. Looks like the mattress in the corner's been burnt, the rest is smoke damage. Took a few photo's so will put up a brief report showing the state of the place now when I get a moment,

Part of the lifecycle of the ROC sadly. First they get stripped, then burnt, then flooded and finally some farmer chucks a big rock down the shaft.
