This is my first report, so be easy on me guys :
Last Sunday, TomSka and I went down to Ashdown Court, a medium sized block of flats in Ashford, Kent.
I could find very little information on this place and I couldn't find any other reports on here that cover it so I'll give you what I know:
The site was obtained by the Second Actel Housing Association in 1974 and sat dormant for 20 years. Then in 1995, planning permission was granted to construct a block consisting of 12 flats and 33 bed sits. Due to the it's location very close to central Ashford, it quickly became a hot spot for drug dealing. Over the next 10 years, drug related violence resulted in a few fires leaving the building in a less than ideal condition. But it wasnt until a murder took place in late 2005 that the council said enough's enough and closed down the entire site.
Nothing's happened on there since other than a planning request from the Downland Housing Association in August 2007. This request involves completely demolishing the old building to make way for a new block of 40 flats and an office.
