Short History:
This public air raid shelter is one of a number commissioned by Surrey Council just before the beginning of WW2. It is similar in layout and construction as the Foxenden Quarry and Coulsdon shelters, some sections being lined with brick or corrugated steel and other parts remaining unlined.
The Explore:
Visited with @Minor at the weekend, this was one of the easiest bunkers to find and most easily accessible. Definitely the tidiest bunker I've been in, a pretty cool place i must say.
on to the pics
Map of shelter..
The Corridor leading in..
One of two food storage rooms on the right of the corridor..
a corridor, half brick, half corrigated lining
one of the unlined corridors
A very old high level cistern in the Gents loos..
and the urinal (on the left of pic) which has been used as a chalkboard for many explorers..
the old canteen area..
looks like elitegaming left someone behind when they moved out..
overall this was a good afternoons explore
