Outfalling into the River Croal this culvert looked inviting from the start with its stone archway and rusting roof supports. After a while the construction changes to RCP which gradually gets smaller with a very low stinky red brick tunnel off to the left in a small brick chamber. ConcreteJungle nipped up the RCP and returned with news that its a never ending shrinker so I had a look up the brick tunnel which I was hoping led to a CSO. As the roof got high enough to stoop instead of crawling on hands and knees the width shrunk to around 2'. After what seemed quite a way up I came across a small set of steps and shining my torch it lookedlike it went on forever so turned back to rejoin the others.
