This air raid shelter served Bendbow Rise Infant School, a 1930's building which was demolished in 2008. Today houses cover half of the site, but strangely the side where the shelters are located has been left as wasteground. The shelters are of a very unusual construction for a Leicester Corporation underground type, being built of what appear to be reclaimed bricks as opposed to the usual pre cast concrete sections. The layout is also very unusual, being two seperate shelters which both have a corridor system going round in a rectangle. They are very clean with no sign of any vandalism at all which is unusual, especially given the area they are located in!
