History:
Originally built in 1904 as a boys boarding school it was taken over in 1948 by the Liverpool School for the Deaf. The name was later changed to the Birkdale School for the Hearing Impared Children. It was eventually closed in 2003 and has been empty since. One end of the building was partially demolished after a fire in 2010.
The explore:
Have already been here four times, but never took photos! Always find myself coming back here as I enjoy the very appocalyptic look of the place! Piss easy access into the modern sections at the front of the site, but the large, older victorian bulding at the back of the site, which looks fantastic from the outside, still remains inaccessable, as every time we've been we searched the entire exterior and found everything is metalled up still. I did manage to get into a smaller section of the victorian building on the left side and found myself in a hallway, at the end, a blocked door! So sadly you stil can't get into the proper main bit. It's a shame the accessable parts have been the same for the past 10 years, rotted and vandalised. Still, I enjoy going up here once in a while, hoping to find a way into the big building!
