Birnbeck Pier, Weston Super Mare

Not a new explore by any means (it's been reported on here a couple of times, but as I was in the area I thought I'd take a look.

Opened in 1862, and now derelict, apart from the RNLI station that is still based on the pier.

More history here

Only a quick visit as I was short on time (and I had my son with me)

The Pier is unique in that it links an island to the mainland, at low tide access can ge gained via a causeway.

Complete with remains of the turnstiles (and Guard Pigeon)

Looking along the pier, well rotten - but note the reinforced/maintained walkway on the left for the lifeboat crew to reach the station.
