This culvert carries Markeaton Brook under Derby city centre for roughly 1.5km before coming out near the Cockpitt island.
Visted here last year and it was overgrown at the entrance. Someone has been and tidied it up a little.
Looking in from the path.
The now clear waterfall.
Old bridge that has been incorporated into the culvert
Looking back to the infall.
Here the roof changes to metal corrugation.
Christmas in your culverts!
The water got a bit faster here.
It splits into 2 sides here, huge tip if your going to do this soon: Go to the left side! We ventured down the right side and it quickly got deeper and full of crap, turned out there was a small blockage that built up a load of junk and we had major wellie breaching!
A small area with columns. At this point we knew we were near the end and our feet were freezing so we wanted to leave quickly.
This is a side passage that goes into a small pipe, it also smells of fresh
And finally a pose at the outfall with me looking bored.
Overall a good little venture under derby, the water was surprisingly shallow even though we have had alot of rain here in the past few days. Again sorry for some of the bad pictures, some were rushed as i don't like the flys down there that love out torches.
