Report - Bradbury Robinson Chesterfield 2017

The company was founded in 1839 when John Bradbury Robinson, a retail chemist in Chesterfield, decided to set up a business making pill boxes. 16 years later the business diversified and started manufacturing surgical dressings to meet the huge demand created by the Crimean War.
The business pioneered the manufacture of medical cotton wool and worked in partnership with Dr Joseph Sampson Gamgee to patent and manufacture Gamgee tissue. The company is still going strong today in Worksop

The building at the front with the blue door is where I used to be based when I "worked" there when I started my electrical apprenticeship after leaving school at 16, it was the electricians workshop. I say worked in inverted commas because most of my period with them was split between college and a training center, I was only on site during college holiday periods and even then the senior sparkys was very reluctant to let us actually do any real electrical work, more like tool carrying and prepping.
