Just clearing out a few old reports i wrote but not posted.....
Brunswick Campus Gloucester City Centre...January 2011
Been a couple of year since any reports from here due to security and a after call from Clebby who had walked past it the day before we headed off for a nose about,he had done it before and been removed by security a couple of years ago but the day was not so eventful this time
The front building was built at the end of the 1930's with a later concrete tower added, ending up in a very large overall building.
I went here for college in the late 90's for a year up in the tower end as i remember as part of a work training course. The place eventually closed in Nov 2007 when a new building was built during the Gloucester Quays development.
The frontage may survive a planned housing development but im not sure if the petition to save the Dawn Redwood was sucessfull. To quote an online article....
"The tree is a Dawn Redwood, a species thought to have been extinct for millions of years until a lone specimen was discovered in China in 1941.
The Gloucester tree was grown from a seed from the China specimen and was planted in 1949."
Anyway a few pictures on miserable rainy day..
reception
The old part and the Redwood
The roof, 9 stories up.... Docks in the distance
The Library
Exam room, ex hall
Sauna anyone?
Cheers
