Bumhole is a culverted section of the shire brook, its given it's name from the amount of iron oxide deposits through its whole course! This culvert (rounded up) is about a kilometer long, the inlet is quite tricky to get to due to the bog that surrounds this section of the shire brook(terribly guarded to be honest), so i made my way slowly through this deep bog and managed to make it to the bumhole!
Disclaimer: I havent done disorder, so I decided to post this seperate as it is the main part of the whole explore.
The explore:
Here I am stood at the top of the ladder just before dropping down.
Once getting into the grille I was greeted with the asshole of hell!
Corrugated metal pipe! Nice! Nice concrete floor to, which wasn't slippy at all!
Looking back.
This black paint (??) peeling off to show its metal skeleton.
An example of this iron deposit coming in, hence the thick yellow coloured water.
Some nice stalagmites.
20 meters left until we make it into the bumhole!! (sorry for blurry picture here.)
Ooo ahh nice! Welcome to the bumhole! (this manhole was pouring out water and I was getting splashed, didnt smell too nice)
Didnt get a photo of this, but what looked like a christmas tree was jammed in the hole!
Hand rail starting to gather up gunk again. The weight of the iron oxide deposit before it was cleaned had bent the whole thing...
...1... lets go in!!
Just a mini version of the main flow pipe, but abit cleaner!
Getting up to a junction, my back was already tired and decided to turn back.
This side tunnel seemed to go on forever.
Nice 2 level chamber. Didnt muck about here it stank. Off back now!
Lovely stooping, ya can see my footsteps here.
Ahh back in the bumhole i missed ya.
The main flow went down an even smaller 4ft pipe that was rather steep, not gonna go down here, maybe another day.
Let's go back, I've seen enough shite thanks!
Speck of light!
And out!
A great explore, one of my funnest explores yet! Definitely need to return soon and get some better photos on my proper camera! Getting out I was COVERED in this deposit, off home for a cuppa I think... and a shower.
Video I took on the way back!
Thanks for looking!
