Report - Burscough ROC Post, Lancashire - April 2016

The post is located in a large square compound, on the edge of a former Royal Navy airfield.

The hatch is detached and missing.

The monitoring room is in fair condition, however there is some minor flooding due to the hatch being off.

The monitoring room door has been taken down and is on the floor.

Light switch.

TeleTalk line connections.

Coaxial cable with N-Type connector. Master posts were fitted with VHF radios to serve as a back-up, should the TeleTalk system fail in the event of a nuclear explosion.

The chemical toilet remains in place.

Only a fellow radio ham would know the difference between an N-type and PL=259. Good Report.

Great report - it's a shame it's stripped but combined with a mooch around the airfield it's a pleasant way to spend an afternoon! The hatch was still there about a year ago (and it was covered in trippy multicoloured disco snails), though it was bend out of line and semi-jammed. I wonder who owns this?
