Georgie and Kevsy21: Xan thanks you for bringing this to his attention.
The culvert carries Knowsley Brook through the delightful pit of Kirkby. The River Alt runs from Huyton through Croxteth Park before being joining the culvert in Kirkby near the M57. The river then runs through Aintree before discharging into the Mersey Estuary in Hightown, Sefton. The culvert itself runs directly through Kirkby industrial estate and through many compounds presumably handling oil or other fuels.
Pictnoms! (Starting downstream, heading up.)
[1 - Very overgrown.]
[2 - Running towards the industrial estate.]
[3 - Our intrepid wad0r.]
[4 - An idea of the length of some stretches.]
[5 - Running through the industrial estate.]
[6 - About halfway down the stretch, took about 10 minutes to get this far along the straight.]
[7 - Overgrown! Many a thorn ended up in my hair that day.]
[8 - Roughly in the middle of the industrial estate.]
[9 - Ramped service access to the culvert.]
[10 - Tributary joining the culvert.]
[11 - Ventilation grilles.]
[12 - Long covered RCB underground heading away from the RCP.]
[13 - Hefty grille where the RCP becomes the RCB.]
[14 - The RCP was still foggy in the torch beams.]
[15 - Heading back downstream towards the tributary.]
[16 - A final shot of the join looking downstream.]
Thanks for looking!
