Another oldie on a boring Sunday.
This Roller Rink was located in a very rural backwater area of upstate New York, so rural in fact that it's hard to believe it got much business at all although I guess given it was probably the only social activity place for miles around it would have seen a lot of kids from the surrounding small communities pay a visit. There isn't a huge amount of information on the place kicking around online, partially down to it's out of the way location which you'd only ever find by accident (as my friend who found it happened to do when driving past on a work call out). It closed a long while ago and at some point in the past a fire damaged the roof of the main rink area. Part of an exterior wall also collapsed however this could have been down to the firefighters or natural causes. At least with the wall collapsed it made entry easy, although we happened to have a pretty hilarious end when one of the residents of the neighbouring properties that overlooks the hole in the wall saw us getting ready to leave. The occupant of the house right next to the hole in the wall is cool and didn't care, she told my friend all sorts of stuff when he knocked on her door back when he found it...the other property owner wasn't so cool! She came barrelling out of her house hollering that she was gonna call the cops and that she works for 'the city' and all sorts of other crap, we carried on packing up our gear and jumped out in front of her and simply walked off, with her still protesting behind us, fun times.
The fire damaged roof and subsequent water ingress has made the floor of the rink turn into a carpet of green, and other than that damage the rest is in real nice condition with absolutely everything left inside as it was the day it closed. There was also an awesome surprise waiting in the rear of the property...
Thanks for looking
