You may think 'do we really need another report on this place?' I wouldn't blame you if you did to be fair, however I've been meaning to have these see the light of day for quite a while. Hopefully there is enough variety to make it worth your time. Some classic shots, some different angles and maybe a few rarely seen gems.
I won't go into a detailed history, just some of my own observations.
1. Cambridge Military Hospital is not in Cambridge (as I assumed the first time I ever heard of it)
2. It's been claimed that the main corridor is a 1/4 mile long. It is long, but not that long.
3. Security at the site was the responsibility of Gurkhas who had a reputation for ruthless efficiency. They must have had an off day when I went. The initial entry was a right ballache, made more difficult by being solo, and I couldn't be bothered getting back out the same way so I decided I'd be quite happy to let them escort me out. After spending a good few hours inside I sat down on some steps to eat my sandwiches, enjoying the sunshine, thinking they're bound to see me in such an obvious place. My lunch wasn't interrupted and eventually, fed and watered and after a little wander around the grounds I ended up realising I'd have to do the exit after all.
