Probably one of the most well known UK asylums in exploring circles and on the internet back in the day, due to how long it was sat, the amount of stuff left in there, and in later years the over zealous secca. One i'm really glad I made the effort to see, some great exploring memories and hilarious incidents with security back in the day. Must have also spent hours wandering the grounds over the years trying to find odds and ends, did anyone save the big map sign?! Think my last ever visit was the climb up the pigeon poop hell that was the water tower, good times! Unfortunately all of my photos of it from way back are crap, and a lot are in portrait for some bizarre reason! Heres a few anyway...

Many a happy hour spent exploring this place as a kid in the 90s, nice to see some photos to jog some memories

Nice! Hard to tire of this place, just so much to see and so much decay to marvel at.
I'm still amazed that there's no photos taken of the hospital site from the Downs, as you could see the whole site spread out from the hills across from the hospital.
I wonder where all these bricks are now, too. They were sold off by the million as reclaimed stock so it's weird to think they may be in new builds and for repairs in old properties dotted around London and probably the UK, maybe even the world perhaps.
Wonder if photos of the abandoned hall will ever pop-up as well.

I recall you could buy a pallet of reclaimed bricks for £25. Nice DIY barbecue

25 squid! That's pretty damn good value. I guess someone has an epic BBQ that reads "1882" in stone on it, as well! 😄

The director of the company that re-developed the admin block told me that he was aware of its location and that it would be re-used in the new development. Not sure I've seen it go back in but that's what he was planning.
