The Carlton Theatre opened it"s doors in September 1928.Designed by Blackmore & Sykes & was run by Hull Picture Playhouse LTD. The lavish designed building, topped with a golden globe had a 1600 seat capacity. Each of it"s twin towers was an entrance into an interior with marble mosaics, ornate painted plaster panels on the walls and a Venetian glass sliding dome.
It continued as a picture house up until 1967 when it was converted to bingo use right up to 2008 when it was under the control of mecca bingo.
I"ve been wanting to do this for a while but for some reason everytime i mention a trip to "Ull" it falls on deaf ears so i"ve made a few solo visits recently which have been eventful
Anyway i managed to persuade *********** to come over and spend some time in the fair City. Luckily he"d never seen Police Camera Action so had no preconceived ideas of the locals and i promised him we would start in the dark & return in the dark so not to affect his night orientated body clock along with the mention of a rooftop
Nice little mooch through the Asbestos room of "Death" that was ruined early by a Police Van parked outside which caused us to rapidly lose interest and progress to location number 2.
Challenging conditions as it was early doors, hence lenser lit. What light eventually came through the small windows just created more exposure issues, but i think we managed ok. TBH i didn"t feel it in here, not sure why? anyway enjoy.
to NC cos he"s a good laugh & it"s nice to be able to rely on someone if it goes T"s up when he"s not ram or
I apologise for the single "RAW" pic heavy report
