The Carron Valley was a centre of paper making in Scotland, with 11 Mills along the banks of the river. One of the last to close was the Carrongrove Mill in 2005.
Unfortunately the majority of the mill has been demolished with just the admin building and powerhouse standing although asbestos removal is now starting on the industrial part prior to demolition. The powerhouse is great, big industry, the same burners as seen in the Briitish Sugar plants.
