Visited with Dweeb and Raddog.

Most recently owned by Inveresk, this mill has been closed since 2005 and will be reclaimed for housing.

Sadly most of the buildings have been demolished. So here's the old paper mill plant, courtesy of those that didn't want you to know about it...

The workmen were on site, so we were quite restricted. Mind you there was only one industrial building left intact anyway, the power house...

Just to the right of this there were blokes working.

The coal stores and chutes...

Thank you for some amazing pictures I am fortunate
to have made a friend in the last year who has helped
me in my research. He was an engineer man and boy
at Carrongrove and he spent many years of his life in
these buildings. With your permission I will save these
and let him see them.

John tells me that each week he used to have to calculate how much
coal used then how much steam each department used
the resulting figures told him how efficient the boilers were.

Sorry folks I know it is not urban exloration but I love linking
the past , the social side, community stuff to these fantastic
pictures.

At one time there were around 11 mills (not all paper) on the
River Carron and Carrongrove, Herbertshire & Stoneywood
employed around 600.

see youtube carrongrove , Denny for more
or flickr Carrongrove

kind regards
