Drove upto carrshield mine today for an explore. The first opening we came across was boarded up but managed to climb through. We could only go about 300 feet as it was ankle deep in water and after that probably about waist high.
The 2nd had a metal gate we opened enough to get through. It had a track going through with an old mine cart.
There was water in that but not deep it made it very sludgy but walked along the rails. It must go on for miles.
I only walked about a quarter of a mile into it.
The mine itself is just outside Allendale in Northumberland

That first one you went in with the wood over the portal, lucky you didn't get far, very bad air in there very quiclkly.

Second is Scraithole - there are some interesting higher workings on the right as you go inbye but generally lots of bad ground and loose shale dropping round you as you go
