The four storey central police station & fire station building at the corner of Shakespeare Street and North Church Street was opened in 1938 with police moving over from the original police and fire station next to the Guildhall which had opened 50 years previously in 1888. The building was originally also the headquarters for the Nottingham City Police.
Surprisingly not a lot of info out there for these places. The police station side closed in spring 2016 and the fire station seemingly a couple of months later based on all the goodbye messages on the walls.
The future for the site is demolition and developer Miller Birch is looking to construct two 14 storey student accommodation blocks suitable for housing 1,215 students.
Another one that's had its fair share of hammering on social media this summer. Obviously this is joined on to the more interesting Guildhall via some walkways linking the various buildings but is quite nice in its own right, with some original Deco features remaining. Pix are from a pair of visits one of which included a comedy moment legging it down a corridor away from the noise of a nearby flushing toilet with @Gsxrwayne
Police station
Front desk has had some smashy smashy
Interview rooms
Cells
Under these naff blue carpet tiles the original chequered floor could be seen
Walkway connecting the police station to a destroyed office block which held little of interest
Nice staircases at either ends of the building
Over on the fire station side
Where the firemen got some kip!
Function room & bar
Goodbye messages
And finally where the fire engines lived
A nice place despite heavy vandalism and crap graffiti in some areas and a shame they don't seem to have much chance for conversion in the planned student accommodation scheme.
