Chapel Allerton Hospital West Yoirkshire 2009
Chapel Allerton Hospital West Yoirkshire
I've not done a report on this before as its quite a small location. But, having reflected through some pictures I think this place is a little gem! Sadly I got there a bit late as most the original hospital was demolished to make way for both the new hospital, and unsurprisingly houses.
Some brief History.
The hospital and Mansion I believe were completed 1927 with the purposes of providing care to WW1 wounded civilians and soilders. Wikepdia mentions that the Grade 2 listed mansion still exists, so its this building in the photos below!
I notice that explorers have made the press before (From this site?) regarding patient records that have been left - And were still there when I visited.
Externally, looks not too bad nick!
Straight into reception
Main corridor - Judging from the large hole in the wall where the fireplace was, It is easy to imagine the splending reception area people must have walked into...
Pay counter or perhaps for perscriptions
One of the small rooms to the side
Indication of the scale of the original hospital
Staircase
Radio Allerton
And down some stairs into the basement, what do we have here?
The old shelter
And deliberately out of focus, some hospital records to finish the day with.
I liked the place!
