Visited with @Bigjobs @merryprankster @Disco Kitten @Motionless Escapes The Riddlers and @fourtytwo
After leaving Drakes Island we spent the night is an abandoned mansion somewhere down south, the only pic I took was of a dead 'Giraffe' so nothing to report here!
That meant it was time for us to head to the ferry to start the Derpy Rotten Scoundrels Euroderpland Tour 2017. Our first stop was an overnighter at The Diesel Farm, as ever that meant a run in with the security sheep but we escaped unscathed and headed in. As I've already reported on the place I didn't take any photos.....well that and the fact when we woke we discovered we weren't alone. Someone obviously had permission to be there and was busy letting themselves in as we frantically tried to quietly let down thermarests and get our sleeping gear away before making a hasty retreat!
With a quick stopover in Lille to pick up @fourtytwo (The Lilleputlians do not have a sense of humour and did not appreciate the welcoming committee running through their lovely city and clambering all over their big metal flower slidey thing dressed as Spiro the Dragon, a Giraffe, Cookie Monster and a skeleton but hey what's a welcome without a bunch of dickheads dressed in onesies to greet you ) we headed for Chateau Lumiere.
It was dark when we arrived so we set up camp in a nearby gazebo where chef Merry Prankster cooked up an awesome spag bol for the weary troops before we headed for hammocks. Yes Bigjobs had his second hammock fail of the trip and was dumped unceremoniously to the ground with a yell! Needless to say DD Superlight Hammocks don't get any good reviews from us!
In the morning it was time for some more jungleering and after a quick jaunt through the undergrowth we came face to face with Chateau Lumiere, its a very pretty place, quite derpy now but still very pretty with some lovely features. There is some evidence of vandalism and graffiti but still nice to spend a while having a mooch about and I adore the van left to rot in the courtyard!
There isn't a great deal of history to this place and all I know is that it once belonged to a Tobacco tycoon from Switzerland who either died or moved and after being sold several times it was left empty to fall into disrepair. Its unknown how long it has been abandoned or who owns it now.
I didn't take my camera in here so all my photos are taken on my phone.
