As one of if not the best example of a former colliery in the UK Chatterley Whitfield has been a playground for explorers over the years.
There is an extensive history attached with the site that @Webbs0710 did a fantastic job of reporting recently which ill link below for those that haven't already given it a read

I've explored this place countless times over the years as its only down the road from me and ive managed to access the site almost in its entirety with the pesky 'underground experience' constantly alluding me.
My most recent visit was back in June last year with @MotionlessMike , having explored a nearby culvert the sun was beaming and we decided it was the perfect day to go climb the head stocks.
Mike managed all 4 whilst i skipped the ones i had done previously due to sketchy rotting stairs and was thwarted by others due to peak summer brambles being tackled in shorts, all in all managing only 1.
having triggered a few CCTV cameras that were following our moves we expected security to arrive soon so didn't hang around at the top of the head-stocks for to long.
We then explored the Hesketh which at the time the volunteers there reported on there Facebook page of significant damage to the floor... they weren't wrong.
We checked out the Hesketh power house and baths before calling it a day managing to avoid yet again the non present security.
The volunteers here do run guided tours around the grounds through out the year but probably best not to mention you've visited on your own account before lol.
