Report - Cincinnati Machine Tools, Birmingham, July 2014

"The former British headquarters of Cincinnati Machine Tools, has been a landmark on Birmingham’s skyline since 1957, and has been intriguing brummies with her subtle art-deco inspired exterior design. Whilst on the inside Cincinnati is pure 1950’s style and American glamour with lots of marble, terracotta and terrazzo, and as well as a gym and canteen it has its own 200 seat Auditorium. Cincinnati Machine Tools, now MAG, have moved just around the corner to our very own Fort Dunlop..."

What attracted me to paying a visit here was the THAT marble, as well as having a peek at that floor… which I would actually love to have in my kitchen. The building is huge, and limited time meant I couldn’t see half of what I wanted to see unfortunately. What I did see however, was very impressive… they certainly don’t make them like this anymore! I don’t think I’ve ever spent so much time staring at walls and floors….
Thanks for the phone call, Catvstyle … you saved me from going with my original plan of access, which would have been a damn sight more uncomfortable!

and yes, I was fascinated by this floor...

Glad you got down to the Black Country in the end Cat i know you had your heart set on getting there good work here too. The floor is just superb it almost appears like an optical illusion, enjoyed looking through your pics.

the floor is what i went to see! (I know that sounds weird, but its true). Still looking at visiting that other site down this way that you mentioned, but perhaps in more "adequate"(!) clothing to brave the nettl-icious environment, yes? Hope you had a good time daan Landaan.

Damn nuisance those nettles and yes i had a rather splendid time down the big smoke.

I did yes. couldn't find it, and was getting fair deafened through the bloody irritating alarms.

Yeh, walk along the canal by the a38 and you cant miss it
