A local one for a change! This post was among the first few hundred to be built, opening in April 1959, and eventually closing in October 1968. All of the surface features have been demolished apart from the access shaft (I still really dont get the few landowners who did this) The shaft has been capped with concrete, however a few years ago someone tried breaking it, so a large block of additional concrete has been placed on top. Interestingly the outer skin of the post was built using Annesley colliery bricks, they seem to get everywhere! The best part of the site is the aircraft post, which is a fantastic survivor. Although the wooden steps have fallen apart, its in otherwise remarkably good condition.
