Leicestershire born Christopher Cook and Harold Hurst began manufacturing hosiery in 1908 under the company name of 'Cook & Hurst Ltd' in Wigston. They first created the Admiral trademark in 1914 to brand their ranges of underwear.

When England won the World Cup in 1966, Bert Patrick, the owner of Cook & Hurst, commenced manufacturing and marketing football kits. The kits sales were aimed at the juvenile market and through selling connections in the sports retail trade. Bert Patrick believed that the advent of coloured television would enable him to persuade football clubs to accept personalised kits which his designers would produce and then register them under the Design Copyright Act.

This year marks the Admiral brands 100th birthday
i first visited this site in 1986 delivering sewing machines to stylish styles !

It's not a bad looking place inside, never looked much from the front. Shame there wasn't anything Admiral related left inside, but still an alright mooch! :)

Would you say it was worth the visit? Looks a bit empty to me, but still could be interesting.

Its worth a mooch even if theres not much left in there. Places like this of local interest are what exploring is about, not houses full of tat, staircase porn, and over editing photos for likes :thumb

Indeed it is, lots of places we have photos of are now long gone. It's nice to have a record of them for the future.
