Short history;
The Southern Railway Company commandeered the Dorking Deepdene Estate during WW2 in order to control the rail lines, and continually deliver supplies of ammunition/rations should the rail lines be bombed.
The bunker is set into natural caves discovered hundreds of years earlier, which provided an almost instantly inhabitable, naturally protected, nuclear bunker.
The Explore:
After 2 hours of searching through the dense woodlands, dodging a tour group and avoiding construction workers @Minor and I finally found the entrance we had been looking for, luckily for us someone before us had made an entry point so after putting our respirators on getting in was easy enough, however the descent down the dark, damp spiral staircase was something else. This being our first explore we were excited and nervous as we headed down into the unknown, then just over half way down we discovered the stairway was partially collapsed, not letting that put a stop to our first explore we clambered down, holding maybe a little too tightly and finally reached the bottom and wow, what an experience.
Here are a few pics, sorry for the quality, we only had our phones to take pics with.
thanks for taking a look
