In Lancaster Gate, central London, sits a 60 bedroom hotel - not used for over 20 years - that went on sale for £26 million in 2018.

Used in the last few years as a modelling photo gallery, the hotel is part of a large Edwardian terrace, and has suffered extensive water and roof damage, patchy repairs and structural problems.

I gained permission from the estate agents marketing the property to take a really quick look inside (they were doing a catalogue photoshoot at the time), so although not a "risky urbex", this is a particularly unique spot and one of the biggest examples of dereliction in Central London.

PICTURES:
(I didn't use a proper camera as this was just a quick visit so these are unedited phone pictures!)

Much of the building is cornered off due to water damage.. this staircase is the route to the only accessible parts:

I was told by the photoshoot manager that this was one of the 60-odd bedrooms. Temporary lights have been wired up, as well as work lights..

Much of the coving has survived, and strangely decay seems to centre itself around certain areas, rather than spreading throughout the building:

I was told that this was once the entrance to the ballroom:

Repairs to the roof has been patchy and carried out under necessity.. I was told that the council paid for much of the repairs as the terrace is listed:

Some parts are almost spotless...

Like I said, although this is a gigantic property I could only gain access to a couple of levels, some of which had a lot of workers and photographers in.

If you have £26 million... this could be yours! Just prepare yourself for a congestion charge just to go to the shops...

Thank you for reading! :)

Good catch! I can't understand how placed like this can just sit there so long. If it was an investment, look after it FFS, but just to rot, wierd!

Nice. Yes it must be worth a fortune given the location so it is a surprise its taken this long for anything to happen!

It's so funny back in the 70's all that good stuff covered up with false ceilings or just chopped out with such gay abandon. Vandalism basically.
