Was down that way and was wondering what was going on ive never seen so many ambulances/search and rescue teams

Spoke to a bloke from the echo and he confirmed it had collapsed

Looks like its curtains for any further visits

From the somewhat vague reporting by the beeb, the tunnel has collasped under the roadway. IF that is right, the tunnel is at it's nearest point to the surface. I've been down (officially) a few times. The tunnel under the houses was driven through sandstone with clay beds. Lined with brindle bricks. Don't think that'll go in a hurry.

The old headshunt is under the road. Could be that that's gone. Also the capped ventshaft is near the road.(The fatal "chimney" in the 1901 fire).

Roscoe Engineering used to have their garage down in the station, Maybe they still do?
