What a great find this was. Construction of the tunnel began in 1898 on Draycott tunnel and it opened in January 1909. During its use the tunnel was prone to collapsing and attempts were made to strengthen the tunnel using steel hoops . The section of line between the north portal of the tunnel and Cheadle was retained to serve the Colliery. The tunnel finally closed in 1922. It wouldn't surprise me if this collapses soon as the structure inside is REALLY bad. Steel beams bending is not the best sign. The old carts in there were great, unfortunately the tunnels were flooded, but you can still see some old mining carts.
Apologies for the bad photo quality! I was new to exploring here and was using a phone torch!! I learnt from my mistake lol
