History
I've been unable to find a lot of history about this place. The generic google searches just bring up address listings and blogs by disgruntled residents. From what I can gather, this was a fairly popular Volkswagen dealership and garage back in the day. It relocated to a better location some time in 2003/2004, and the building in St Annes has been left derelict ever since. There's been no sale signs up, so it's safe to guess that the owners aren't too bothered about the property.
The Visit
There's a few sections to this building. There's a small garage to the left of the street, which is fairly locked up. Didn't bother trying to get into this one on this visit. There's a few council buildings behind this one that are rumoured to still be in use, but uncertain. There's a huge garage at the back of the street by the railway track. There's no locks on the door, but the door is huge and neither me or my partner were able to get access to this part.
The main part of the building was easy to get into as the attempts to board up older entrances was quite poor, so a quick shuffle through a kicked open board and we were in. The place has obviously been abandoned for a long time. Walls completely ripped apart, fixtures ripped out and smashed, glass everywhere, pigeon shit everywhere, as well as the obligatory bags of rubbish people have dumped.
There were a few rooms on the first floor that we weren't able to access as the floorboards were kicked through and I, quite frankly, didn't want to take my chances of falling through. There's another part of the building at the front, accessible through a stairway on the outside, but this has been fairly well secured. Possibly another thing to go back for. Anyway, onto the pictures. Visited with my boyfriend (non member). Also, first report from me on this site. Be gentle.
