A short tunnel a few hundred metres long that runs under a housing estate and also the Bolton to Manchester railway line, carrying the overflow from a small reservoir. Mostly brick construction, changing to stone nearer the outfall which is the oldest part under the railway.
Just downstream of the tunnel outflow the stream is littered with broken Victorian grave stones from what looks like landslides from the nearby St Michaels church graveyard.
We thought we were the first to report this tunnel but Sneak and Cooney beat us to it in 2008 so the name is their doing!
