Well the 2.5 kilometre Forth Railway Bridge was the world’s first major steel bridge. Construction of this 110 metre high, 50567 ton metal beast begun in 1883 and was formally completed on 4 March 1890. It currently allows 200 trains a day to cross from one side to the other. Alot of history on this so not much point putting more up.
