Report - G Yorke & Sons, Broom Street Works, Stoke-on-Trent – September 2020

I can’t really find anything information-wise on this place which is surprising for S-o-T considering the area has the very useful thepottieries.org and staffspasttrack websites.

From the roadside this site appears to be little more than a row of soggy late Victorian / early Edwardian terraced houses - used as office space and stores, but the workshops reach back to the adjacent Southampton Street. The company manufactured brushes & brooms, seemingly everything from paint brushes to big yard brooms. Doesn’t sound particularly interesting but the place was still rammed with ancient looking machinery, nice colours and some old stuff hidden away if you’re prepared to poke about a bit.

Awesome stuff man, as mentioned had a look at this one a few times last year I think but didn't get anywhere with it. Looks really nice in there, I've got some history bits knocking about it for it so I'll dig them out.

Always nice to see new stuff coming out of Stoke still!

What a little tardis. The outside looks so ordinary. Some lovely old machines left in that workshop. Just shows again we should judge a book by its cover. great stuff
