History
Ive done lots of research and cant find much on Gala at all. From other reports on this place and little info I've found a couple of bits, The bingo hall closed on 9th March 2007 we noticed this inside as there was lots of flyers saying last show or something similar. The main fact of why it closed was because of the introduction of the smoking ban in confined places like clubs, pubs, bars and Restaurants. The building is based in a really busy part of lakeside on the outlet shops sitting opposite KFC. Plans for a new Morrisons supermarket on the site of the Gala bingo hall, with a petrol station and neighbouring restaurant 'complex' get the go-ahead and more than 300 homes will follow - on the same site - when proposals are finalised.Council's planning committee "reluctantly" approved plans for the borough's second Morrisons supermarket, which will be located just off West Thurrock Way on the site of the former Gala Bingo building, in the middle of Lakeside's retail parks.
The Explore
After driving all the way to London and being busted before we had got access we decided to leave and find somewhere on the way home. Being local to Lakeside we decided we would give Gala a look as Id driven past recently and acess looked easy enough. Got inside the car park that's part of the complex we tried everywhere but it was sealed tight and decided to go back to the car. Luckily as we did a group of young lads turned up and climbed right in. I called to one of them and told them to come and let us in so they did. When were in! I was so excited as Id seen pictures of inside and it looked wicked.
First room was the main bingo hall with all the chairs still in, It was cool but had a weird kinda feel to it.
Then the large staircase at the front of the building.
I couldnt believe how big this place was once we were inside, we were wandering around finding more and more rooms. Next place we looked was the food/Buffet area with kitchen and a bar.
It was obvious that there had been lots of kids in here smashing the place up as it was a complete mess lots of smashed windows and broken furniture.
More smashed windows
Half the ceilings had been ripped down so we had to be careful as stuff would occasionally fall
Then upstairs we found another bar which was really cool.
Some nice christmas decorations we found to.
Along into the main bingo hall not realising there was a huge stage at the back.
Then the best part the escalators shame they had lots of stuff chucked on them, but still cool they were still in the building.
After being here a few hours we decided we had seen what we wanted to go for, plus there was over 10 kids inside being really noisy and annoying and didn't wanna be associated with them as they had started to draw attention to the place. But amazing explore one of the strangest places i've been.
Thanks for reading hope you enjoyed!
