This was my first visit to Severalls, and unfortunately probably my last. Demolition has started – sadly with the main hall reduced to 6ft of rubble. No real sign of security, just a white van, although we did come literally face to face with a group of thieving pikies! Judging by the amount of reports lately, I’m surprised we didn’t bump into other explorers! Thanks to Cavewheel for driving, and jimmying access. Enjoy.
Obligatory shot of the famous corridors
Typical ward
Typical cell
Safe – still locked
The grounds are now lush
Sorry, but I could look at these corridors all day!
Fantastic piece of patient art – ruined.
Utopia as painted by a patient
This door bell stood ominously about a foot proud of the wall
Sign making room
Obligatory morgue pose
This is part of the master plan for what's proposed: Not one, not two, but 1,500 new homes. The dark brown buildings are to be retained and renovated. I’m pleased to see that's most of the corridors, the water tower, and the admin building.

This is a hand drawing from the original planning application to renovate the admin block.
