1. History
Very little history on the place but this is the former underground Victorian reservoir of the Grantham Water Company which was formed in 1855. It's at the top of a hill which allowed it to use gravity to feed the growing market town with the water supply it needed.
2. The Explore
This is a revisit for me. Known about this place for ages and saw a report on this place from 2007 (http://www.28dayslater.co.uk/grantham-water-company.t22042). The place was sealed shortly after but about a year-and-a-half ago discovered it was doable again. However, I've subsequently realised that the report from 2007 was of a second reservoir tank that was next to the one in this report and that this one is still sealed up.
Wasn't happy with my pix from the first report. At the time of my first visit was having issues with my lens (I needed wider angle), didn't have that strongest torch (this was giving me issues with focusing) plus was new to light painting. Recently got a new 10-18mm and was dying to try it out. Thought I'd check the place out again and to my delight it was still doable so down I went.
