I was wandering around Hanley Cemetery early one morning looking to take some photos of gravestones & memorials etc., when I found access to one of the wings of the gatehouse. Even though its a small building I couldn't resist having a nose around inside. It seems that the council use this as a storeroom for the cemetery gardener & a fine mess they seem to be making of the place.
There are a couple of nice ceramic memorials on the walls as well as various oddments lying around & a patterned tiled floor which looks in need of repair
Damaged monument - probably chavs
Details of the inner roof - the ceiling looked a bit dodgy to climb around on so I only got these poor photos of the roof space. Note how the false ceiling matches the neo-gothic architecture!
For all you nature lovers - a queen bumble bee just woken from hibernation
Presumably this is the department responsible for this place
The mark of chav
I was about a minute away from getting caught - as I left the building a vanload of council workers turned up! I returned a few days later but it was inaccessible
