Hartford Mill - Demolition Update 2019.

828454

Not a report as such, just some updated pics for anyone interested in the state of the place since demolition started, stopped, started..

A once F.W .Dixon "showpiece" mill (and North West Urbex Classic), opened in 1907 and produced cotton until the 1950's and has been vacant since 1991

Subject to numerous arson attacks and sadly deaths it was nicknamed "Death Trap Mill" in January 2019!

Prior to demolition I managed to get the Drone up

Around March/April time demolition sort of started, with significant land clearance and reclamation

By the time May came along they were ripping what they could from the place, and actually pulling it apart brick by brick literally!

Summer came along and so did the bat roost, work stalled and they sat in their caravans drinking tea whilst attempting to keep the local scrotes out :brew

This is what summer looks like in Greater Manchester

And now as Winter sets in and the bats have buggered off, it looks like they are setting up a load of scaff in preparation to salvage the rest of the masonry

I've made a few trips back in the meantime to try and document the sad demise of this once 'showpiece' mill, and I'll try and keep this lot updated as it goes..

Nice work, good to see it's still mostly there for now. A huge shame the building got in such a state but I'm really glad they're salvaging so much material

Updates always good. Drone shots are good. Nicely time lined. But what a shame these building get into such a state they have to demo!

Really good they are actually salvaging the usable materials from it rather than the implosion that could so easily have happened. At least it's not going to waste in it's destruction.

Cheers Ojay, always like reading your posts, this is spot on. Glad to see some of it will appear somewhere else, I'm sure at 3 times the price the bits were originally......
