Having seen Raz's report and looked back at the steady stream of reports that came in around 2010/11 we decided to take a look. Unfortunately a lot of the site has been dismantled since the early reports and we didn't make it in to the canteen/ office area before being rumbled by an over zealous employee of the adjacent factory, but nevertheless there were some still some nice features remaining.
The company was founded in 1931 and produced wood protection, furniture coatings and organic chemicals over the years. There have been several major explosions on the site in 1926, 1930 & 1992, resulting in the loss of lives. The company was bought in 2000 and operations had ceased by 2005. Powergen installed a CHP gas turbine power station at the site which still remains active.
