While at Leeds I thought about having a visit too the Holbeck viaduct,
nothing special but passed away a few hrs.
The Holbeck viaduct was built in 1869,
by London North Western railway (LNWr) & is 1500 yards long.
There are 7 steel over bridges & 4 subways,
the remaining structure consists of 87 arches.
The viaduct ran from Leeds station to an embankment,
closed during 1988.
This was once a spur from Leeds station to Farnley Junction,
until it became surplus too requirements
The track remains in situ on one side of the viaduct.
Globe road
Water lane
Silver street
Subway
Bridge road
Triumph close
arches
Domestic street
A643
decking
subways
Gelderd road
notice the remains of an original advertisment,
Dunlop & Rankin.
thanks
