After reading Tunnelscruff's report on this post i could resist a visit and a chance to pop my ROC cherry.
Although this post is off the beaten track it's quite easy to find. Had a few issues with the weather i.e it was banging it down with rain and the wind nearly knocked me on my ass.
Very tidy post, as tunnelscruff discovered there's not much down there. It is very dry, only a small puddle at the bottom of the ladder.
Here's a few pics:
All surface features are fairly intact.
Hatch is still in good condition, apart from some loose concrete.
The Fixed Survey Meter Probe
Air Vent
They must have like their tea down here, 3 kettles in total
Some of the remaining telephone equipment
Battery Control
Co-ordinates for the Post and a funny little sticker
The temptation to try it was there, common sense took over
Thought this intresting, maybe they were planning some DIY down there
Pump, seized up though
View looking out of the hatch
One last pic before we left
Really good explore, apart from nearly being blown over by the wind and fact we were soaking wet. I've got the ROC bug now.
Also, i can remember a thread on here dicussing possible ROC sites in sheffield and MacDonalds at Tankersley was mentioned. Popped in on the way home. There's no ROC post there but i did find this.....
Any thoughts?
Cheers for looking
