July 3rd, 2018, we explored the Hougham deep shelter and dressing station, the following photos were taken during our visit. A very interesting site, unfortunately the deep shelter section is all that remains of the now removed Hougham battery. The design is typical of deep shelters, with the corrugated steel supported by iron/steel supporting bars. Similar in design to Dumpy B and the Z-Rocket deep shelters. It was built in 1941, and was used as a dressing station.
Sitting in the main passageway of the deep shelter
Looking down the main tunnel
Cool light effect created using a wine bottle and torch
Many bottles and cans found in the tunnel, probably left over from previous recent use
Walking down one of the secondary tunnels branching towards one of the entrances
Again, looking down the main tunnel, using bottles to create the green lighting.
