So here’s a report from a while ago. I haven’t been active on here or anywhere else online much lately, but missed it and seems like this is one of the last decent places left to share my stuff. We visited this place around the end of 2021. Locally they called it the ‘chalet du chausseurs’, which could be translated to the hunters’ cabin. I was not able to find any background information about it. It has been around for a long time since someone I know said he remembered visiting that place as a child and he’s in his fourties now.
I didn’t have my camera with me at the time, so I had to use my phone to shoot some pictures.
The exterior of the cabin. It was placed in an open area in the middle of the woods.
A big living/dining room. Once upon a time Edmond ate soup here.
Upstairs, there were a couple of bedrooms. Here’s one of them. I suspect this cabin has been used as a place for a group of friends to go on hunting weekend trips.
A couple of weeks after our visit we heard the place burned down, which is pretty sad. Being made mostly out of wood, there was almost nothing left of it. We went to check on that since it was pretty closely anyway.
All that was left was the fireplace and a bit of basement wall. Probably fell prey to some youths using it as a location for a party. During our visit we spotted empty beer cans and cigarette buds on the floors. This place was doomed to go up in flames some time, but it’s a shame that it happened so quickly after we first visited. I had wanted to go back with a decent camera but no use now.
